Yes, I think I did too. 14 or so? I don't remember off the top of my head, it might have only been 10 or 12...

More then 8 in any case.

I'm getting the same error. I'm playing on a huge map with 16 civs (although not all of them are still there )

It seems to happen between 1465 and 1470. It's alright if I go back to 1465 but any save game after that doesn't work I can send the save game if you wish....

OK, I will take a look at the attached saved games and try to figure out what's going on with them. There's no need to attach any more saves to this thread; these two should be enough for me to figure it out. Thanks.

                  Just a brief note.

I went back a few turns to 1450 (from 1465) and played on from there and up to now it is working. The thing that I noticed happen in the original 1465 was that the Zulu's killed off the Japanese. On the assumption that this caused the bug I made friends with the Japanese and the Zulu's trying to keep them from fighting and I'm now up to 1480 and the saved game is still working. I will check it again when the Japanese get killed to see if the bug starts again.

I was wondering, as I haven't checked it out yet, since the error comes when the game is loading the city bit if Japan and the Zulu's have a different type of city i.e. from a different age and the graphics are messing it up? I will have a look when after I get some sleep!

Well, if you're gonna post after Mike says not to, that's the way to do it. Great observation on the Civ eradication, I'm gonna watch in my current (Non-corrupt, but only standard map size) game to see if eliminations cause problems... if nothing else, it gives me a good time to make a backup save, just before it happens.

In my defence I had PM'ed Mike and he asked me to post here and then I guess he saw the two already there and changed his mind!

Man, I'm glad I'm not the only one. Stuck in the 1600's, standard map, 7 civs. If you are correct, the recent demise of the Indians corrupted all of my saves... I haven't even checked yet to see how far back I have to go. I was doing so well too...

Ok, I just went back and confirmed something I thought I noticed but wasn't sure of. According to the histograph, the indians haven't had any cities since 1000AD. It is now 1465. Does city elimination not kill a civ? i thought it did... If it does, ghandi must be in some sort of undead frenzy.

OK, it looks like we've found the problem causing the saved game error and it's been fixed.

If you still have the autosave from the turn before the problem appears, make a copy of that saved game. You will be able to continue playing from that turn without any problems once a fix is made available.

SITS: Thanks, especially, for the saved game before the error occurred as this was most helpful in tracking it down.

Cheers, Mike. Can you tell us what the problem is?

I have had the same problem on my Pentium III 733 128mg ram. Good to see that the problem will be fixed in the patch. Damn though-- it would have been great to finish that game.

I realise that the forums have been down but it would be great if Mike can say what was wrong....
