  • Can u change the Civ start locations w/ the editor?

I tried to find an option for it but couldn't. And also the start location's all said "player start", not "american's", etc. Does this mean that everyone's starting place is random?

From what I understand from yesterday's chat, you can change starting locations but you can't assign specific civs to specific starting locations (yet).

Do you know if they are assigned to a specific slot, or randomized?

I think (but I could be wrong) that they are randomized.

          This brings a new question.

Can you define more then 16 spots?

Yes, that's exactly what that means! It also means the map editor is an unbelievable piece of crap!

Not only that, but maps ALWAYS wrap around (no European scenarios unless you don't mind the ability to move from Moscow to Portugal by going east!)

PLUS, you can't create cities, only starting locations!

All of these were possible using the old Civ II editor, for crying out loud! I regret having to say this, but I'm hugely disappointed in this editor.

After hearing that civ3 wasn't going to have a scripting language, I was disappointed.
Now if you are only limited to creating Random Mods in civ3, I am HUGELY disappointed.

...and Firaxis said that they were committed to the Modding community. It would seem that they could have at least matched what they were able to do in civ2. (but with an overhaul of the engine, perhaps they couldn't make it work - and the game had to come out before Christmas).

Can anyone here say 'Expansion Pack'? Somehow, shelling out an additional $20-30 seems underhanded. But we are all sheep...

I hope this is just a big misunderstanding on our part. Say what you would about CTP2, but all of the above was possible in that game.
