  • Official Technical Support URL

    Just so everyone knows,

    is the URL for North American Civ III (PC) technical support. Infogrames will be your point of contact for reporting problems, inquiring about fixes/workarounds, and so on.

    As other territories launch I'll post their support URL's when I get them.

    Thank you Dan, but would you care to explain how it's not a developer (Firaxis') address?

    Wait, I see, just in case trouble will raise you are sharing the pain with Infogrames to revenge for their pressure on early release...

      Beacause everyone at Firaxis is off in some small tropical island getting completely pissed. But Dan has stayed to help us out. Dan's already had a holiday, remember the Sombrero pic:P
      Seriously Dan you doinga fantastic job at helping us all

      Firaxis probably hired a seperate support company to help out.

        I have been trying to play Civ3 for three hours now and I still am having the same dumbass video problem, which is seriously pissing me off! I find it utterly amazing that a game company could put something like this on the shelf. I have never had a problem with a game until I encountered the worst game of all, Civ3. What a waste of $50 so far!
        However, it is difficult to believe that 2 times 2 does not equal 4; does that make it true? On the other hand, is it really so difficult simply to accept everything that one has been brought up on and that has gradually struck deep roots – what is considered truth in the circle of moreover, really comforts and elevates man? Is that more difficult than to strike new paths, fighting the habitual, experiencing the insecurity of independence and the frequent wavering of one’s feelings and even one’s conscience, proceeding often without any consolation, but ever with the eternal goal of the true, the beautiful, and the good? - F.N.

          I love the response to this video refresh rate error:

          "It seems to be happening mostly on systems with older or improperly installed monitors."

          Wrong! My wife's system has a ViewSonic PF790 which is relatively new and the INF file is dated 8/31/2001 and is WHQL certified.

          It is funny how developers blame everything BUT their code when it comes to issues like this. No other game has ever caused this problem before...

            Guys, chill out, I mean just calm down. Dan is prolly the only one reading this, and it's not his fault that there is some video incompatability.

            Just bottle up your anger until the game gets working, and then take it out on the other civs.

              I had no intentions of bring that anger upon Dan. Yet for Dan to channel my anger through himself towards all the programmers and big time executives. As you may see, though, I did write 'so far'. Does that make up for huge outburst?

              One thing I do think is that it is a shame that Civ3 has a 'rushed' feeling to it (I was able to play Civ3 on my brother's computer at his house).

                Dan, if you can help answer this real quick, please?

                "Video Mode=1152" is there another command we can use?

                i run desktop at 1280x960 and with:
                "KeepRes=1"
                i can get the game at 1280x960.

                but how can i get the game to 1152x768 without changing my desktop?

                i have tried:
                Video Mode=1152
                Video Mode=1152/768
                Video Mode=1152x768
                Video=1152
                Mode=1152
                VideoMode=1152
                VideoMode=1152/768
                VideoMode=1152x768

                but none work...pleeaase, whats the correct command? the README seems to be wrong
