What is the editor useful for?

Hey Mark,

I supposse you are as surprised as everybody here, this Editor is as useless as a piece of s**t. I know Firaxians are free to make what they want with their programs but I think it is a swindle.
I am very sad and I only want to express it here. I also want to know how many people feel the same I do.

I was dying to play CIV III but if Firaxis don't make their promises true ("powerful editing tools, multiplayer, ...") I'm affraid I am not going to buy such an expensive product (49$ = 60 € = 10.000 Pts. aproximately).

I feel very dissapointed. What do you think?

I just wanted to add a "POSITIVE" Spin, and say I for one like the editor and yes CIVIII is indeed well worth the money. I am 42 and enjoy the ease of use and the variety it offers a "Novice" mod maker such as myself.

Maybe the editor's fine...but apparently cities cannot be added to the map, ditto with units.

Should I really go out and buy this thing, or are there going to be significant modifications to future copies?

You download whatever "upgrades", "patches" in the future...you won't have to pay again (with the exception of multiplayer and probably the art work etc for new civs, but that is optional)...so buy now.

Bah! Why should I shell out 50 bucks now for a copy that lacks multiplayer when I could just wait and get one with Multiplayer later. That's a ****ing ripoff

I think I've posted something like this before but anyway.... i find it hard to believe that firaxis and infogrames will screw over their fans by doing what some of you are describing - making us pay for a multiplayer expansion.

Sure I think an expansion will come with MP built in, but the basic multiplayer (same old turn by turn net/lan/email/etc) I feel will be available for free by patch before the expansion. On the other hand, the amazing new multiplayer stuff that was promised - that I feel we will have to pay. If they can actually create something amazing with TBS games in multiplayer.

Same thing with an editor that can place units/cities/etc. Maybe they will allow debuging or cheat mode with the next patch.

Firaxis did say we were going to have scenarios though.... So theres gota be something coming soon
