    • Hello!

      When I first encountered it, I translated

      LOL - lots of laughter.

      And RF in these Forums probably refers to the (difficut) Civ2-scenario "Red Front" by Captain Nemo.

      To Kamrat X: (who does not accept e-mail?)
      KMFDM - Kein Merheit Für Die Mitgleid
      This probably is not correct. It could be "Keine Mehrheit für die Mitglieder" (no majority for the members) or it could be "Keine Mehrheit für die mit Glied" (no majority for those with ... ahm ... "parts"). Or I'm wrong and they *wanted* it this way.

      • I haven't seen these in the first post, but to be honest I haven't read the rest of the thread. Anyway:

        - CF = culture flipping
        - GL = Great Library (the same as Great Leader)

        Also, if you feel that WTF is too harsh, you can use WTH (What the Hell).

        • GL can be confusing for new civ3 players.

          GL = Great Leader, Great Library, Great Lighthouse
          GW = Great Wonder, Great Wall
          WW = World War, War Weariness
          MP = MarketPlace, Military Police, Multi-Player, Manufacturing Plant (who actually plays that far into the game, anyways )
          MPP = Mutual Protection Pact
          SP = Single Player, Solar Plant
          HP = Hit points, Hydro Plant
          ST = Sun Tzu's, Shakesphere's Theater (more often just called Shakesphere's), Smith's Trading Company (more often called Smith's)
          MW = Mounted Warrior (Iroquois UU)
          MoW = Man o' War (English UU)
          WC = War Chariot (Egyptian UU)
          JW = Jaguar Warrior (Aztec UU)
          WE = War Elephant (Indian UU)
          UU = Unique Unit
          MI = mech infantry
          MA = Modern Armor

                • Earlier, I noticed someone had listed XP as experience. I've seen it more often referred to as Windows XP - when referring to problems experienced by some CIV III players who switched to that operating system, the game didn't work, and they couldn't get any help from Infogrammes.

                  Additionally, XP was used in earlier conversations when referring to what was coming in the eXpansion Pack for CIV III - such as a scenario editor, play by mail, and multiplayer games. The XP has now morphed into "Play the World".

                  Very respectfully,

                  • Infogrammes did not help, because it was not their problem. The games works fine in XP and has since it came out. I would think that any one using XP for experience or expansion, is way too lazy (add a letter for exp), but you can tell form the context what they are talking about.

                        • I suppose it's not technically an abbreviation but could someone explain 'bump'?

                          Comment

                          • bump is a simple way to bump the thread in question up the list. Since the threads are sorted by last post date, a thread that hasn't been posted to in a while will drop way down the list.

                            I have seen LOL with both answers Laugh and Laughing.
