I know some have had issues with fonts, but I do not know the details. I would try a plain google search on fonts and civ3. You could also take a peek at the forum for problems on CFC.

BTW, I troed that and nothing works, you'd think newer would let you see more not, in some cases, less.

Check that the resolution is at least 1024. A few years back I got a new monitor and tried to run at 1900 or something and it did not like it. So I would try to set it to a known to work res and set the ini to use the desktop value.
KeepRes=1
Can be 0 or 1. If 1, your screen resolution is used for the game instead of the default 1024x768.
Video Mode=1280
Can be 1024, 1152, 1280, 1600, 1792. Changes the game's resolution to the value specified (instead of the default 1024x768).

Civ 3 doesn't work on new computer
I used to play Civ 3 all the time on my old computer but I recently got a brand new one (the monitor is more like 5 years old working on 6 but it was attached to the old computer at the end) that is 11 years newer yet Civ 3 doesn't work on it. When I click to play the game then it starts the load and then there is no picture as a matter of a fact my monitor basically shuts off and the power light starts to blink like crazy. I also tried running it in compatability mode for windows ME and XP with the same result.
Does anybody have any idea what's going on and what I can do to fix it?
