  • PLEASE!... All I want to do is change my civ color..

    Hi,

I like to play with the French whose civ color happens to be pink. I'd like to change this to something else. Does anyone know how to do this? Thank you to anyone who has an answer

There are two ways that spring to mind.

I'm assuming that you have Conquests of course.

Begin by creating a new scenario as follows. I'm also assuming that you don't know how to this. If you do, please forgive me.

    1) Launch the Civ Editor. It starts with an blank file called untitled.biq. As far as I know, this is an exact copy of the default game file.

    2) Select Scenario, then Custom Rules. Click Ok to the rules editor warning.

    3) Select Edit Civilizations from either the Rules, Edit, Civilization path or the selection box thingy on the top left part of the screen.

    4) You should now have a screen with all the Civs shown with their Default and Alternate Colours. You simply change the colours for the French and save the scenario under a new name.

    5) Select the scenario in the Custom content menu in normal Civ and it should work okay.

I've never actually tried it for normal civ games having only tweaked existing scenarios before.

The other method is more dangerous. Its dangerous in that you are modifying the game file (for conquests it is a file called conquests.biq) so you must back this file up before hand. Do the same procedure as for a new scenario but save the results as conquests.biq

My advice would be to stick to the scenario method as it does not involve tinkering with the conquests.biq

Hopefully you should get the French in whatever colour you want.
