  • a few questions i have been thinking about

    1. what does preserve random seed mean?

    2. if i load the world (huge) scenario why wont it start me out where washington should be if i start as america even when the culturally linked starting point option is checked.

it starts me out in south america and somtimes in europe. it seems that its starting me at other cultures starting points

if i can remember the rest of the ?s i had i will post them later lol

Preserve is a way to insure that things are repeatable. So reloading to fight the same fight over gets the same results.

People clamored for a means to turn it off and it was put in a patch. It really made little difference as they had figured out that altering the play before was a way to change the rng and hence often the results. So turning it off saved the reloads some work.

The culture link is broken. You need a scenario to get the proper placement.

To get the proper placement for each civ on the world map you need to:
      1. go ino the editor and load the world map
      2. click on each startig location and reassign it t the appropriate civ
      3. save the map as a scenario

        re: culturally linked starting positions.
I think this means that historical neighbors tend to be neighbors in the game, even if it is a random map. Your interpretation would make too much sense.
