    Any thougt?

    Thx by advance.

Well, have you won on Demigod with one of your least favorite civs yet? Or with a smaller map?

If you can only win Demigod when playing with your favorite traight or on only one map size setting, your not ready for Deity.

      Yes joncnunn i did.

But it seems there is a big difference between demigod and deity. That s why i stop there..

It looks like i do something wrong..

At the start i create mass settlers with my first city and mass workers with my others.
When it s possible i try to build my empire arround my capital, like a web, to have less corruption.
The matter is i can t build any greats wonders.
And i m definitly lost with the science.

When do you transform one of your citizen in a scientist?
I do that when my city have 4 or 5 citizens.

      Thx by advance,

Look at some of the previous threads explaining step by step how to beat deity- it's not that easy but you can do it with the right suggestions
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

It usually takes a while to catch up on Deity. You need to trade quite a bit more and research techs the AI tyically doesn't go for right away, then trade to all. A carefully timed war can also help you catch up. You are supposed to be behind at Deity and struggle to stay in the early game. You need to maintain a great rep to keep the trading running smoothly.

I don't like the sound of making your 5th/6th citizen a scientist (unless you can't grow and are at size six). You need to maximize population to work tiles and you're likely better off with more trade via production to get science rather than using a specialist.

You will want your cities more closely spaced to minimize corruption and increase the tiles you use early. Closer spacing generally means more cities for you and more production. Do you use the "optimal" spacing right now, or more close so each city has 8-10 tiles to work maximum? Do you use "rings" to reduce corruption in your first rank cities? (you can gain a lot by the simple tactic of knowing distances from you palace and setting your first cities all at the same distance).

            Have you read this?

You might want to try a smaller map. The faster you make contact, the more likely your early techs are worth something in trade. If the AIs meet before you meet them, they will trade amongst themselves and you're then behind from that point on.

Cyrano...I am in the situation. I cannot win at Deity. I can stay in the game to the end, but am too far behind to get Spaceship or UN.

                The things that have helped:
                1. Make sure you have a good start. I freely abandon maps after a few turns if the start sucks. The game is much easier if you have, at least, one lux. nearby. Large jungles, large deserts, or a small land mass can be troublesome.

                2. Use one of the utility programs (I can't remember which one I use). It helps prevent waste, and riots. Tells you of new trade possibilities, workers to buy.....lots of stuff.

                3. On my current attempt, I'm on the main continent but there are 3 civs on other land masses. Since the AI does not use suicide galleys, I had exclusive comm. with two civs, which helped tremendously with the early techs.

There are a couple of points....hopefully my current game will be my breakthrough.

I have never ever played on Diety or higher than Regent / King, and I have been playing since Civ I in '91. I find R/K to be enough without being aggravating, which is not what a game is supposed to be.
One OS to rule them all,
                      One OS to find them,
One OS to bring them all
and in the darkness bind them.

Two good utilities are Mapstat, part of Cprsuite (Civreplay) and Civassist II.

justjake73 you are correct it is best to stay with a level that gives you some enjoyment. The only question is what levle is that for any given individual.

I find any level can be fun given the proper set of circumstances. I have loaded games posted from players at all levels and had fun.

I personally enjoy Sid games, but have been playing AW emperor games lately to get my fix on combat.

I use Civassist II, but I'm sure Cprsuite is just as good. Go to the following link:

and look in the Utility folder. Civfanatics.com has similar programs.

As for why play Deity? For the challenge. I don't like winning all the time...it get's boring. So trying to win (and failing) at Deity is a change of pace.

Sid games are better, overall. They are challenging, but the odds are not stacked against you.

                            Thx you all,

I have done what i saw in your posts.(especially 911 and drakan)..

I have build a lot of settlers and build a lot of citys in circle arround my capital at the start. Works well.

I have a pretty lucky game at this moment.
Even if i didn t expend much.. i have arround my start point a lot of goods, 2 irons and one horse..
I also try to maintien a good rep to trade good and tech with others civilizations.(Not working very well)
I don t do anymore scientist.
This point bother me.. i don t see any difference.. looks like scientists are no longer usefull in Civ.. Or perhaps i do something wrong.. dunno.

Anyway even with a good start and a prety descent game.. i m far to be in the run for the win... deity is really hard.

I will keep it up. Can t wait to win my first game at this level of difficulty.

I have try a war... just to see what i happening..
I have lost. to many units.. looks like they can build units a lot faster than me.

                            Thx again for your time.

Not sure what you are saying on the scientist part. If this is C3C, you get 3 beakers from a scientist, 1 in C3 and PTW.

The main way I use them is either one only to plod along on something like Ironclads. I may be able to get this as they often do not go for it.

Otherwise lots of them in corrupt towns later in the game where I may have scores of them. Either case zero research.

Yes Deity is hard, it was meant to be. Civs and map settings have a large impact on the game at the top levels.
