  • Changing to Democratic Gov't - Scientific civ

I like to run 100% science at demigod level and find the lower corruption levels of democracy is important to really dominate science at this level. So I am willing to accept 8 turns or so of anarchy to achieve this and have found no real cost if I get the timing of the change correct.
The ideal timing is when you are 1 or 2 required techs away from moving to the industrial age. At this time revolt, having previously sold democracy tech to all AI's with enough cash, gold per turn to justify the sale. Then when you revolt, as your improvement/ unit costs go to zero, you will bank heaps of money, maybe up to 1000 gold per turn from your previous tech sales. At the end of anarchy when you achieve a democratic gov't, talk to the AI's and buy the required techs to get to the next age. Then immediately resell your bonus tech back to the AI for everythingf you paid them and more as the price of techs takes a quantum leap when you advance to the next age.
The result is a democratic gov't, a tech lead, AI's bleeding economically and unable to research at any reasonable rate, so that you continually research quicker than them, and by the time you get Motorised Transportation you are up to 6 techs in front (tanks 40 turns b4 anyone else) and ready for very rapid conquests with your tanks mostly taking on riflemen or even weaker defenders. Domination victory becomes a breeze with cultural and spaceship victories also achievable
