I've checked the preferences and don't see an option to stop automatic snapping to the next active unit. It is very annoying when working with a stack to have the screen snap from the current action to the next active unit. The preferences are only to show or not to show game and unit animations. CTP had a specific preference to avoid auto snap - surely there is one in civ3...somewhere?

No way that I know of. I either use the wait on the unit or fort it. None of those are really helpful, I still have hassles. Forting takes effort and I have to remember to come back to them, waiting helps, but in big maps with units on several lands, it is hard to take it all in and I have to go around more than once using the wait to get the proper unit handled first.

This does not exactly solve the problem, but it helps in many situations:
There is a way to assure that all units of one stack are highlighted before any others are brought up. To do so, right-click on the stack you want and select "Fortify All". Now, right-click on it again and select "Wake All". This is especially useful after stack movement was used, because the game likes to switch away from the stack even if the units still have movement left.Last edited by Modo44; April 9, 2005, 05:19.Seriously. If anybody figures out how to tell which movement is going to trigger the automatic moves for the turn, please let me know. Nothing in the world more frustrating than having a couple of workers under a unit so he can leave on roads, and the auto-moves kicking in before you get to the workers.Solomwi is very wise. - Imran Siddiqui
