  • How to capture a princess.

The title says it all, how do you capture a princess.
The civilopedia speaks of a capture unit option so you can move the princess to your capital city...the only problem is where do I find this option?(what does it look like)...at the moment I have 2 foreign princesses(one on a pile of rubble, one in a captured city) and no way to move them.

Is there need for some special 'princess capturing unit'(some sort of prince charming unit )?

    Have you defeated the dragon?

I have no idea though, however, I can tell you not use the princess option in Single Player.
The AI was never optimised for it, basically it has no idea what to do with them.

Hmm, sounds a bit like you, don't it.

It's my second C3C game, so I put in the new options just to see what they would cause...trouble beeing one of them .

Then, at least I'm not the only one in the game who has no clue what he/it is doing .

I never played with princess. But I think it is similar to the "treasures" units or the relic units in some of the Conquests scenarios.

You will need to "pick them up" with another combat unit. And escort them. Move a combat unit to the same square. and then activate the princess, and see if you can "load" her like you would load a unit into an army.

Attacking the princess isnt really possible since she is one of "my" units now.
When she was an AI unit, she was defended by pikemen, killing the last one of them included "capturing" her. From that moment on she remains locked in her position it seems.

I don't recall seeing that option, but next time I play I'll surely check for it.

I don't know if this is important but she seems to be standing on a square containing a victorypoint monument.

Well you didn't specify whether you'd done that or not :P

Probably just to mark where you captured her. I doubt it means much

Edit: I just played a quick game to test it out and I couldn't figure out any way to move her either. Somewhat odd...

I don't have time to play, but surely you can load her onto a military unit (such as a pikeman, swordman etc) and then escort her. again I never play with princess, but I believe that is where they got the middle ages and age of discovery scenarios from.

We've been trying to, but there doesn't seem to be a way. I searched the forums, but nothing that comes up helps.

No button appears and the shift-s shortcut doesn't work. The Civilopedia says that the princess should attach itself to the unit that captures it (automatically, if I understood it correctly), but it doesn't

It starts more and more to look like some-one just forgot to put in the code...

ah... well, as long as I know it isn't my own incompetence playing the game, I can live with it .

In one of the first "conquests" tutorial scenarios (I guess it is the second) you must take your princess to the volcano and sacrifice her to the volcano god or something like that. (Reverse Capture The Flag).
I recall, that in this particular sceanrio, you have to move one of your (combat) units onto the tile containing the princess and click a button like the load button of the army. Then the princess disappears and is incorporated into your unit. (It receives a special marking to its name, i think). Do you have the "advanced unit action" options button selected in the preferences screen? (Off course, that action should not be an advanced one, but you never know).
                        Maybe this helps...

it seems strange the bug would go this long unnoticed. But it isn't a popular playing option for the regular game. Just for scenarios.

I did this post about seven months ago and no one knew the answer back then. I think that there was an error in the coding as the capture option is not enabled.
