I assume you've checked the listed directory for files? What did you find?

Looks like a bad install to me.

But was the file there? I'm wondering what you found in the directory.

BTW, I checked and my KnightDeath.wav file doesn't have a space (it isn't Knight Death.wav); could this be the problem? Maybe you just need to edit the .ini file for the Knight unit.

Strange. Do you have any files in your unit folders at all?

And the re-install was removing both Conquests and Civ3 and then re-installing both, right?

You know, this is starting to sound familiar.

Did you do a full install of both Civ3 and Conquests?

Familiar because IIRC some people were having problems with missing sound files when not doing full installs.

But if did a full install of both, I'm stumped. Sorry.

I'm assuming below, that the game was looking for a sound for the original Knight unit. If some other unit from a scenario was trying to access the Knight's sound, this one could get tricky.

If it's only one file missing, you should be able to fix it. The file itself can be exchanged for another with the same name (take any .wav from another unit in the "Civ3\Art\Units" folder). Or you could edit the Knight.ini file and put the correct sound file in it, if the name got messed up.

Look in the "Civ3\Art\Units\Knight" folder to find if other files are missing. If the folder is empty (i.e. has only Knight.ini in it, or has no .wav files in it), you're in trouble - sound and animation files should be there, along with the unit's .ini.

                          [edit]
Just checked the files in my Civ folders. It is "KightDeath.wav", without the space I see on your screenie. So, a corrupt .ini file might be causing problems.
