I recently attacked egypt and declared war on them. Then, we started a nuclear war, and I am having a hard time. They send about 10 ICBM's every turn! How can I stop them? I already built Strategic Missile Defense but 5 of the nukes still get in?! And how come modern armors can assist in amphibious assults as well?

It sounds like the only thing you can do is take out the enemy cities where they are building the nukes. Or you can try to make peace with the Eqyptians.
Modern Armor can't be used in amphibious assaults unless the rules in the editor have been changed. (So, if you're playing modified rules, that's probably the reason.) Has one of your coastal cities been captured? Because if that's the case, they are likely moving their transports into that city and off-loading their armor there. When they do that, the unit's movement doesn't get used up like it does for beach/shore landings. Other than that, I have no other ideas."Every time I have to make a tough decision, I ask myself, 'What would Tom Cruise do?' Then I jump up and down on the couch." - Neil Strauss

Are you play AP? I mean even at sid the KAI cannot toss 10 ICBM's at me every turn. It can't even do one evey turn, after it uses it stockpile.
Anyway, once you have nukes, do spy on the AI to see where the icbm's are located. Launch yours in groups of three at any city that has nukes.
Now you can only conquer them or wreck their best cities to slow down the pace. Well if you can cut of the resource (ur), that would do it.
Only marines and berserks can do a true amphip assualt and armies of those units (not mixed).
So what do you mean by assist? Do you mean attack from the transports? If the transports have entered the city, then the units can defend or attack.

no, first marines come and attack my cities like a normal assult. But after they die, a modern armor on the transport starts firing at the city.
And it only lasted 3 turns so far, with about 8-10 per turn.
And I nuked their uranium and aluminum resources, but they seem to have one somewhere else, or else some AI is trading them uranium.
And what is berserk?

What level is this? The cost goes down as you move up for the AI, but still even at Sid they are 200 shields to the AI. I just never seen it. I will admit I only get to nukes at deity and sid games nowadays.
How do you know it was a modern armor that fired? You sure it was not a stacked ship such as a BB or DD? You saw the animation?Last edited by vmxa1; October 29, 2004, 21:39.

Gotta be a mod... or one of the greatest KAI ever known.
And, especially measured across so many missiles, the SMD really should be covering appr. 75%.The greatest delight for man is to inflict defeat on his enemies, to drive them before him, to see those dear to them with their faces bathed in tears, to bestride their horses, to crush in his arms their daughters and wives.

My limited experience with SDI is it stops at least 3/4 and I seen 9 straight stopped in both directions. You can see a really large civ making ICBM's in little island towns even. They are plucking away at 40 or more turn pace. It is really funning.

they probably got all those nukes from controling a third of the world on a huge map.
And I am playing AP, but does that really increase production so much? I do have a 5 or 6 cities that can build an ICBM in 3 turns, along with 20 other cities that can in 5 turns, every single one working on it, and about 2-4 per turn.
