  • Civ 4?

    Hey all,

I was just wondering if anyone has started a wish list for Civ IV.

If not then let me start with this...

After playing hours and hours of Rome Total War, I think that Civ IV should take the same approach of a 3D world map that scales down to interactive RTS like 3d battles.

That'll finally put to rest all the griping about spearmen killing tanks.

Just think how cool that will be!

    What are other people's thoughts?

I'd like to see something like a strategic map for movement and a tactical map for combat.

Perhaps this thread can be moved to the proper forum?

Very cool idea. To make it simple, that is what a turn based strategy game is about. An even better option would be to scale it down to single individuals, and let your units run around with a chainsaw and a plasma gun. Imagine, how cool this would be. Of course, from a first person perspective.

With other words, your idea is so bizarre, that I'm afraid, Firaxis will implement it.

By the way, you seem to like war games, have you tried Conquests?

Yes! And every cite you enter should be like at the beginning should be like Pharoah! And few thousand years later, Ceasar 3! By the end of the game, they'll be like SimCities! For combat, the battles will turn into Empire Earth (except maybe in the Medieval Age, where it will be Age of Empires)! Imagine! And the economics will be like Colonization!

            Sorry.

I think the whole idea about the landscape for civ4 looking like rome:total war is a good idea, from the screenshots ive seen they look dope:

They should give it those unique features of Superpower 2 like being able to ban or legalize drugs, abortion, ban certain languages, etc.

There is a list and a Civ4 forum for all this....

Anyway, some of those folks thought we would see a cIV product in 2004, but it really seems like 2005 would be the earliest...

Anyone have an educated case for when this will be released?

Makes the most sense for a release in late 2005

Civ3 was released Oct 29 or 30th 2001. I'd expect the late october early november timeframe to cash in on the christmas rush.

Besides there's a bit of nostalgia involved. I for one bought Civ3 and C3C in late october and have come to associate this time of year with intense Civ playing.

Actually, despite my unhappiness with the 1.22 C3C patch, I'm starting a new game just because

Now that they got that silly Pirates! project out of their system I'm sure they'll get to work on Civ4.

As of Oct 6, you can preorder the game. You can find more at http://www.atari.com/pirates/pirates/order.php

                              I can't find a release date although.

EDIT: According to one of previews linked from the game website, the game is supposed to come out in this month. I doubt this information is ironclad although.
