  • Elite Units

I have a question. When I have an elite unit which pops out a GL, it seems that I can never get another GL from that same elite unit. Is this true? Is this some restriction that you can only get one Great Leader from each elite unit.

Yes. One GL per unit tops.

...until you upgrade that elite unit, that is. Once you upgrade it, it becomes a vet and after being promoted back to elite, it will be able to produce another GL.

...you can recognize Elites who do not have the ability to generate a Leader by the asterisk after their name.

                C3C

C3C gives you the chanceto rename the Elite unit once it pops a GL.

I was just putting the * there, didn't even know other versions did that

Since you won't get another leader with it, a good strategy is to add that Elite * unit to the army you are about to build from the leader.

I usually do add that elite to my army, especially if it is a cavalry unit.

I do tend to want to use the army right away, and the elite* is usually somewhat beaten up... Not gonna attack with him.

I think you can rename units without waiting for them to produce a Great Leader.

You can rename in C3C by cliking on the "ABC" rename button at the bottom of the screen. I do it all the time. I have made a habit of not only putting an * but the year and the civ that granted the GL.

                              *Spain 1043AD Cavalry

Then I do a simular thing to the Army.

                              *11th Combat 1043AD Army

or if it is from Academy.
