  • Rome: Total War verses Conquest!!!

Well, here it is, what do you think, vote and pontificate.

Please, and since Atari is the publisher of Rome: Total War, I am tempted to amend my 'boycott' of Atari products, just because the buzz about this game and considering it's nature, buying it is probably a good vote for them to keep making games of this nature. TBS with zoomed in battles!

    Anyway, which is witch?

Not wanting to be a hypocrite, I have not voted for I do not have Rome: Total War. I have thought favorably about getting it, however was interested in what other Civ players thought, not all the game reviewers.

So, I have not voted and cannot tell if anyone has voted. If someone has voted could you enlighten us to what the count again 'if any is'?

Mayhap, a few more weeks will be more telling...

Actually, there's a View Results link that lets you see them without voting. C3C is up 3-0 right now.

            Gosh, thanks

Interesting how even this beleagered game endures

              it depends...

the civ scope is larger but the total war concept is cooler...

a combination of the two perhaps ? *drivel*

Well, I voted for "Conquests the beleagered" just because it is still my number one game.

I have heard a lot about this Total War game. Is this the same game that the History Channel has been using in one of it's programs to illustrate ancient military conflicts? I can't recall the shows name... maybe "Decisive Battles"??? Anyone know?

                  That's right SG.

They've used it to show how a few of the ancient battles went. Pretty interesting program, though I wish it was about more modern events.

I agree, it's a good program. I might have to check out Total War.... I just simply don't have the free time like I used too.... I guess I should wait until the price reduction one year from now. I can get all the patches at that time as well.

We've got film for modern events, Trip.

I enjoy the program, and the format lends itself well to the ancient battles. I suspect it could work well right up through the First World War without a whole lot of change, too, though. Maybe when they run out of ancient battles, they'll work their way up the timeline.

Well folks! This thread is sure enlightening...

Gosh, the whinning is so similiar...

I think I will hold off and keep polishing my Mod, it is big-time FUN and I already paid the 'freight'.

It's a bit like comparing apples and oranges--no, wait, oranges and tangerines. They're similar, yet different enough to be two seperate experiences.
I just got RTW and I'm very impressed. I'd put it on a par with C3C, and can't choose one over the other. As there was no option for 'equal', nor even a banana option, I could not vote.
Give RTW a try. Maybe, like me, you'll split precious gaming time between the two.

Ya, sorry for no banana option, I did not vote yet either but because I have not given in to the temptation to buy it. I am on a wait and see more mode. Thanks for your imput.

However, in the long-run I usually settle to one or two games, well the competition for our attention is sure nice.

More modern as in post-400 AD.
