  • General question on the editor

It used to be with Civ 2 or Alpha Centauri that you could change the general perameters for a random game by changing a text file.

Are we now supposed to use the editor program to do this and does this work even for random maps--as opposed to scenarios?

Right now I am playing random maps in Civ 3 Conquests.

Are there any official or unofficial guides to using the editor?

? What parameters? You mean rules? If so, sure. A bic/bix/biq file can have custom rules and/or a custom map. So you could create a mod in which, say, Civilizations all have different traits and UUs, but not give it a custom map and thereby allow it to be played on any randomly generated map.

No guides to using the editor... it's fairly intuitive so long as you know the game mechanics. Just select "enable custom rules" and then "edit rules" and change the things you want different.
