  • Hit Points

    Hi everyone:

Does somebody know the combat bonus for each hit point?

An elite cavalry is stronger than a veteran one, but how much powerful?

    Thank you very much.

AFAIK, each hitpoint is exactly the same. An elite is no more powerful in combat per se, it simply has more hitpoints.

If you want to get a feel for how an elite unit or group of elites would stand up against veteran units or groups of vets then use one of the Civ Combat Calculators.

I dont have the link handy but someone around here should have it.

The only bonus is that an extra hitpoint gives that unit a "mulligan", so to speak. A vet fighting a regular can lose three individual rolls and still win the battle. The regular can only lose two and still win the battle. Same goes for elites vs. vets, regulars vs. conscripts, elites vs. regulars, and so on.

It's not like SMAC/X Where there's a bonus modifier to the attack roll. What a pity.

Here is a simple but decent combat calculator:

It should be noted though that when the AI computes combat power it is the total sum of Hit Points, Attack strength, and Defensive Strength of all of your units. This is important in determining if an AI will attack you or not.
