  • I don't get this

    I selected accelerated production, but some of my cities still have their normal production rate. Why is that?
    And how come in the late game, it takes some cities to build tanks in 4 turns and others 50 turns? How do you speed it up without hurrying production?

    Screenshots of two or three cities that can build a tank in 4 turns and same for those that build tank in 50 turns? Their city info window, that is.

    Those would help experienced players greatly to answer your question. I could think of several possibilties already but I'm a newbie still so I prefer wiser ones to take over.

      Think shields, that tiles can yield within the city radius. Each city production is wholly dependant upon tile shield production within the radius of that city and a citizen of that city must be 'working' said tiles.

      Without this being high for each city, it matters not to amplify via increased production because you are only multiplying what is being tilled withing said city.

        Corruption sounds like the most likely culprit to me, but what Barinthus said about posting screenshots is probably your best bet to get some direct help.

        As to accelerated production...it doesn't double your production of shields, commerce, and food; it halves the amount you need of each. For example a regular size 1 city needs 20 surplus food to grow. Under accelerated production it only needs 10.

          IIRC, tanks cost 100 shields, so your cities that take 50 turns are prodducing one shield each, so Roth is almost certainly correct with his corruption theory.

            Shields or corruption of shields, good call!
            Or you could go into the game editor and reduce the building cost of tanks if that is your favorite unit, say down to 50 shields or even less. And I guarentee you will see lots of tanks.

                    Well, there;s no real easy or complete way to reduce corruption, but courthouses/police stations and police all help, placing your cities closer together helps, building the FP helps immensely, as does the SPHQ if you're communist. WLT*D only helps reduce waste, which seems to be what you're mainly after anyway. Those are all the things I can think of for now, anyway.

                    See alexman's thread on corruption for more info.

                            FP = Forbidden Palace
                            SPHQ = Secret Police Headquarters
                            WLT*D = We Love the ____ (leader) Day

                            FP is typically the first small wonder you can build.

                            SPHQ can only be built by and only works under Communist governments.

                            WLT*D occurs in a city when you have at least as many happy as content citizens and no unhappy citizens.
