Austrian Civilization

You should have seen Austria as a playable civilization in Napoleonic Europe Conquest Scenario. You should have also seen Charles V leaderhead for the French in DIscovery scenario.

Now, actually there IS a civilization called Austria (recognized in the Civilopedia), there is a full leaderhead set, there is a UU, the Ussar; even CHarles V as a King Unit. Now, for a strange reason Austria Doesn´t appear as a playable civilization in the standart game mode.

It seems a whole new civiization (the 33rd) has been totally stripped out of the game! I wonder if anyone has noticed it, and if the reasons are known...

Please EXPLAIN!

The game is hard-coded to only support a certain number of playable civilizations. If you want to play the Austrians, simply mod an existing civ with Austria's stats. Remember to backup the your orginial Civ3X file; or, just create a mod and play with that instead.

Thanks a lot! I still wonder why it were the austrians the one to suffer; maybe just some other civs (lets say the korean) should have suffered...

Austria had one of the biggest empires in europe some 100 years ago.... Its history dates back some 1000 years. It was also the last remaining part of the "Holy Roman Empire".

I was really upset they exluded austria as a civ and instead prefered other civs like the zulu's or korea...

Heck, go further back into the Germanic peoples... the Goths TOOK OVER the Western Roman Empire for chrissakes (pun intended).

I never thought of that juxtaposition before. Staying on theme, the Goths were SUPERIOR makers of swords... they were bending and twisting iron/steel long before the Japanese.

Wow, you are good. You actually made me look up what "juxtaposition" means.

To stay on topic - the Goths dead, the Japanese alive and kicking. What's that tell you?

Anyway, if someone wants a civ to play it, he should have it. Heck, I play Polish all the time and they weren't in any of the Civs to date.

'Juxtaposition' is indeed a fine word, but it's not really the right one in the context (sorry T). An expression like a "re-juxtaposition" or a "different juxtaposition" would have to be used.

What Paddy did is called an "anagram".

If I were truly awesome I would figure out an anagram with 'anagram' and post it right here, but unfortunately I'm not.
