Trade routes

I'm playing C3C latest patch.

I was so looking forward to Astronomy because it allows trade over sea squares, and brother do I need to trade.

I can't post a screenshot yet, my enemies are everywhere. I assure you though that I can trace a path from my harbor to another nations harbor through coast and sea tiles. The path is entirely within the borders of a different civ, but we are at peace. Why will the diplo screen not allow resource tradeing?

Any ideas, besides Magnetism.

Is the other nation's harbor (or yours) connected to the capitol, and can you trace that path? I'm not sure whether you have to be able to trace the land part or not.

I can trace roads from capitols to harbors.

It is in a PBEM game where we each have two civs. I know that the route is ok, but can't trade maps yet. The route has not been explored all the way.

Trading maps might be what I need.

Ahhh, if the black overlay obscures part of the route (even if you know it's sea/coast underneath), the route isn't complete. If I understand right, that's your problem.
