Volcanoes can spoil your game..
I once had placed my capitol right by a volcanoe without noticing...and sure enough, it went off before I got a settler out. I was so mad I turned off the computer and cooled myself with some Mozart.

I think the game needs some more disasters because disasters are a real part of planning strategy. You never know when that hurriancane is going to delay your naval offensive.
