  • Idea: Moving Hwach'a to Gunpowder advance?

    Reasons:

    1) To make this UU slightly better. While lethal bombing is ok, against targets with more then 1hp, it

is still as effective as Cannon.
    2) For flavor. Why need metallurgy if unit needs no iron
    3) To fix graphic glitch with Metallurgy advance when playing Koreans

    What do you think?
    Good?
    Bad?
    Unbalanced?

    EDIT:
If Hwach'a is on the other hand, really good, what about moving it to Chemistry to fix graphic glitch (and for flavor).

    Unbalanced.

I don't think the Hwacha needs any help. The lethal bombard is amazingly effective. Unlike other UUs, once you get a substantial force of it along with guardian muskets, the inertia will carry you to victory. There is no need to replace the fallen UUs that you would have as another civ. The key, of course, to using them is to have a large enough stack to break the enemy, with enough defenders, the barracks will heal them.

the Hwacha. Give me two stacks of say 15 Hwachas and 10 muskets/mi's and a couple knights to clear the path, and I'll be a happy civer, albeit a very slow moving one. And that will be one dead AI.

I don't think it need the help. Plus, it would only then come one tech after Trebuchets

By the way, one point abaout balance.
In most cases when using Hwach'a, if units you bomb have more then 1hp, Hwach'a is as good as Cannons.

On the other hand when units already have 1hp, Knights and Cavalry can take them out too (and are more mobile in this regard).

So lethal bombing is good, but I don't think it's way too good on its own.

          What's the graphic glitch?

Look at Metallurgy advance when playing Koreans.
            It's slightly out of place.

Ah. I don't play the Koreans very often.

The Immortal is a n00b UU. The Impi and the Dromon are hardcore.

May I ask how a spearman managed to kill a ship?

                        . I must have my UU's confused.

Although with this game, it wouldn't surprise me if a spearman could take out a ship.

The Dromon rocks. I use 'em right up into the Industrial age. Same attack as a Frigate, but can carry units, dirt cheap at only 30 shields, move of 4, lethal sea bombard. In the ancient/med era, you can bombard AI land with impunity. Later on, build a group of them into a wolfpack to take on even Galleons and Frigates- bombard, bombard, bombard, bombard, bombard, attack and sink.

                          Oh yeah.

^ Knows a hardcore UU when he sees one.

can't see using a ship UU.

If navies actually meant something in this game, I'd actually build them. I usually don't get around to building a navy until the modern age. Not out of necessity, but because I run out of things to build, and being a former squid, I just like having modern navies.
