  • Why are Creation forums dead?

Looking at Civ3-Creation and Civ3-Files forums, there are very inactive. Barely any post at all.

Compared to CivFanatics forums which are full of posts and replays.

And that's more then 1:20 ratio!
    How did this happend?

Now if I post new version of my mod, it takes weeks to get any replay and days to get one download.

I remember that things were not such as this 1 or 2 years ago.
    What's the reason for this?

I think it's because CFC (rightly) made specialized creation forums and Apolyton didn't.

Isn't Apolyton declining nearly on all fields ?
And, to tell the truth, it may have something to do with a general attitude among the members....
At CFC or the German Civforum.de, you usually get a qualified answer on any question in no time. Apolyton, half of the post are often unqualified and/or blatant spam, unfortunately quite often even from experienced members. Sure, if you want to share your experiences, it's fine. Just don't expect a lot of helpful feedback.
CDG, don't ever ask outside the (good!) specific mod threads (they'll usually tell you about some historical überunit then...).

        It's really quite sad.

For instance, I have a question on placing science techs on the science advisor screeen there RIGHT NOW. Nobody's responded to it, and I can understand that.

What I don't understand is how only three people have even looked at it!
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

I think it stems from the issues of the main forum--the mass flaming by the old guard here at the beginning. Given the choice between viewing endless flames and negativity and actually discussing the game, most noobs chose CFC. I can't blame them. The mod's hands off approach didn't help much easier. And frankly , like the above, the format is easier to navigate at CFC

Well, whether it is true or not, reading the CFC forum (I’ve lurked for a couple of years, posted 3 times maybe) one gets the impression that there are more New/Regent/Monarch players there, and accordingly, a lot more advice and discussion geared toward what I would have to believe are the levels the majority of people play.

maybe a lot of the people here are also getting on with playing what they have...

what with all the various patches and the vaste differences in those patches

I must to using these forums more with Vanilla Civ III

Oh well...I really wish they'd employ moderators here.

Don't need no language filter, but that waste of time stops me from checking Apolyton (where I started as well btw, long before CDG or CFC).

Edit: Since the thread I linked to was indeed removed, thank you. Nevertheless, I could easily tell 5 threads on this page that consist to 50% of nothing but serious spam.
