  • MAP: Europe, By Marla, with improved rules

    The rules to this scenario were altered to take the increased size into account. The rules changes are below:

    OCN=56 cities.

    Tech costs were altered to follow this post (yes, I know it is a little bit old). Each tech point now costs 40 gold. So Intergrated defence cost 28,800 beakers

    roads now cost 1/4 of a movement point, instead of 1/3, to slightly shorten the effective size of the map.

    And AU mod 1.05 is in use. The changes can be found here

    Any advice is welcome

    You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

    I am also in the process of altering the civ traits to all of the civs, so that all civs have 3 traits.

    What do all of you think about that?

      Three techs to start

      I've done that a couple of times and had some interesting results with the AI. You have to make sure you don't give too much away to the early civs that excel in the ancient era. The AI can get way ahead of you even at Regent level.

      Of course you also have the temptation of setting yourself up nicely early on as well, which starts out fun but get boring after a while when you are so far ahead of the AI that there is no challenge.
