  • AI Cheats- WTF?

Cruising along while just hanging on in my first demigod game, I rudely discover that the AI can buy and produce units in newly captured cities before I get to counter-attack. Is this at all levels? Is it part of the whole kludgy game engine that does AI and automated moves in some limbo 'phase' of the game turn?

As long as the city is not in resistance, you can do it too.

How do you get a unit to appear before the AI makes it's moves? I've only ever seen units produced in the 'production phase' at the beginning of my next turn...

I presume you discounted the possibility of reinforcements being brought in?

I don't think I've ever used the draft option, doesn't that give you the unit straight away?
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

The AI drafted a few defenders, it shouldn't be a surprise as the AI makes heavy use of the draft on all difficulty levels.

Also do not forget the turn phases

            Production
            Player One (Human)
            Player Two
            Player Three......

so if player 3 completes a unit on turn 152, it would produce the unit before you move on turn 153.

They were regulars and completely surrounded, so it must be the turn phases. I thought this was only screwed up in MP, for some reason I never noticed it in SP before...

I had first noticed this only recently, and at first I had the same reaction. After I realized what was up, it only furthered my resolve to destroy AI civ's as quickly as possible.

Nope, late middle ages and a land-locked city completely surrounded by my (inferior) units...
