New to Conquests for sure, but not sure about PTW

Only shields from 'natural' forests, or only shield once per tile?
You only get shields from the first chop. That can be from a natural forrest or a planeted one.

So natural forrest chop, get shields. Plant on that same tile and chop and you do not get shields.

Planet on a tile that never had a forrest and chop and you get shields. Plant again and chop and you do not get shields.

It is not new to C3C. I cannot remember, but IIRC it was a very early patch for the original game.

It's one chop per tile then. Good to know

          Thanks

                        Changes v1.16f:
                        * The cost of building a Palace is now based on the number of cities in your civilization.
                        * The Sun Icon on the Info Box represents the amount of global warming affecting the game. If the sun does not display, there is insufficient global warming to affect the terrain. Once the sun displays, the brighter it is, the greater the impact of global warming.
                        * It's slightly easier to culturally acquire cities.
                        * Forests planted on tundra always display as pine.
                        * Irrigation sorts slightly differently.
                        * Goody hut console popup display times increased.
                        * Relationship lines are no longer displayed on the Foreign Advisor unless the player has contact with both civilizations.
                        * Corruption effects have been reduced.
                        * Cultural priority of AI has been reduced.
                        * Submarine and Nuclear Submarine now have an offense value of 8.
                        * Paratroops now have a range of 6.
                        * Privateer now has an offense value of 2.
                        * Corruption calculations for Communism are now flat for the number-of-cities factor.
                        * Borders now draw over forest and jungle.
                        * Shield bonus from clearing forest can only be received once per game.

So as you see it was a very long time ago. IFC was nuked in the second patch IIRC.

I never thought about planting a forest on virgin tile (ahh virgin ) and then to chop. This could be a very valuable strategy.

Especially if your out in the middle of nowhere..

Is there a certain terrain you cant do this to?

                              How about a certain age?

i know in Call To Power you need Aggricultur revolution to terraform forests as well as advanced farms & Industrial Age to Terraform Swamp

Just wondering but I guess I could:

                              A)Read Manual
                              B) See what the latest patch offered
C)C if the manual was the latest information or like many strategy guides, "close" to the final product!

                              Or

                              D) Simply ask the experts here whom are so helpful and eager to advise young (well, in my case old and shriveled up) up and coming wanna-B professional players

Forest planting becomes available with...engineering? Yeah, I think that was the tech

You can forest grassland, plains and tundra.
