First: Hi, I`m newbye (here and the game too)...

Second: i`m latinamerican, my english is bad...

3rd: My game version is in spanish, i`m not sure about "names" of techs in english...

Ok, this is my apport (i hope ):

The techs cost money... this cost are stablished for every tech... For example: if we set the research in 10% for "Calvary" (remember, i`m not sure about names of techs in english), the turns are 30 and the research is 50 of money for turn, the total cost is aproximately 1500 golds, if repeat the step before, but set the research in 20%, then 30% and 50% (and other rates) is probably "to know" the cost of such tech...(remember, this situacion of turns for research change for every game, because the form of map, numbers of city, many factors vary for every game, but, i think, the cost for tech not...)

Ok, this is the introduction, if we know the cost of one tech, is possible reduce the numbers of turns for set the research every 5 or 10 turns (or other numbers of turns), you can earn money for this tactics, and reduce turns for research...

the last 2 or 3 turns remaint equal, reduce cost research for earn money in this turns...

this tactics need very "calcs" for good result...

You can find the cost for a given tech in the editor. It is adjusted for the cost factor for the level you are playing on.

So it is easy to find the beaker cost for any tech for any level of game. There are calculators around that you can use to dial in those value automatically. You need only select the tech and the level.

BTW we have a spanish forum here.

Yes, GV, you are on the right track.

When new, I think it is important to try to research as much as possible, and keep a close look at the last two or three turns of researching a given tech.

As I've played more and more, though, I find myself checking on what adjustments to the research and happiness sliders can do every couple of turns... there are SOOO many factors that can have an impact.
