  • HELP - Patch 1.22 (Conquests) doesn't work

I've now downloaded 24 MB patch 1.22 for Civ3 Conquests TWICE, and each time it told me the file was corrupted when I tried to install it. I opened the patch file (Civ3Conquestsv122FULL.exe) with Winzip and it let me extract the first 3 or 4 files, but not the following ones.

So probably the file I downloaded was already corrupted on the server (I downloaded from ftp.infogrames.com) or it was corrupted while downloading - I had to resume the download several times because I only have 42 kbit/sec downstream (analog modem). For this reason I can't download it via HTTP either.

Any suggestions how or where I can download the patch reliably? Maybe it's available as split files somewhere? I don't want try and download the 24 MB file a third time, I already lost several hours and about EUR 5 in internet connection charges.

And why is the patch file that large? After all it doesn't add new graphics, it's just small tweaks and improvements to statistical game data and calculation code etc... this can't require 24 MB!

Try getting it from Firaxis here

I'm not sure exactly where all of the size comes from, but it does have multiples of every file that must be localized for different languages, as the patch is for all versions (localized translations).

Unfortunately, the link on the Firaxis website is a HTTP link, which I can't resume (which is essential when downloading with an analog modem). Any further suggestions?

You could use a download manager, however a lot af these come with spyware.

I don't know of any FTPs besides the Atari one. I'd suggest a download manager too. I have one called Star Downloader I use occassionally; it has no spyware AFAIK.

          Edit: link

The free version without the bells and whistles is at the bottom right of the page.
