  • city limit

hi. i'm playing on el mencey's huge earth map and i can't build any more cities! how do i fix this. thanks in advance.

My favorite map. The limit is 512 and I don't believe there is a fix (its hardcoded).

I seem to recall there's a utility allowing more ... or did I dream that one up?

There's a suggestion for Civ4: Remove the limit (or at least increase it to something like 1024, 2048, or even 4096). Let hardware limitations govern the limit. While I'm dreaming, how about increasing the map size past 362x362?

didnt they improve the limit on C3C ?

or was it only the unit limit that was upped to 8000 something. maybe it was.

Only the unit limit hasbeen increased. I think it is now 8192.

harcan25, the best way to fix it is to disallow cities in different terrain types, e.g., desert, tundra, jungle, marsh, even forests (optional). Make the worker "Clear Wetlands" job expensive or even disallow it. If no cities are allowed in forests, then make chopping forests expensive (24-40).

If the game was good I'd do it. WW2 took years. So would taking over the world.

If we were sensible, we wouldn't play at all. think of all the time we are wasting when we could be making money, or making new friends.
