Is there any good Earth world map with specific starting locations in conquests? So if I choose the English for example I actually start on England. I always loved that in Civ 1, being able to play the world map, with fixed starting locations.

I have wondered this myself, but I never bothered to hunt for one. I just took one of the multitude of World Maps that came with the game and edited them to have every civilization's starting location predetermined. It worked beautifully, except I'm sure I screwed up with the middle eastern civilizations (So many civilizations, so little room.) and, probably, the american tribes (Well, I knew the Aztecs/Mayans were in central america and that the Incans were in the mountains of South America, but the Iroquois went over my head. I just slapped them in Canada.)
So, I say just fire up the Civilization Editor and set them all to your liking. It'll take about five minutes or so. Sorry for not being exactly helpful.

My world map does this: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...threadid=94123"The world is too small in Vorarlberg". Austrian ex-vice-chancellor Hubert Gorbach in a letter to Alistar [sic] Darling, looking for a job...
"Let me break this down for you, fresh from algebra II. A 95% chance to win 5 times means a (95*5) chance to win = 475% chance to win." Wiglaf, Court jester or hayseed, you judge.

You could mod my Hexette maps to assign specific civs to the start locs.

el mencey's maps are the best. I just love his 362x362 earth."And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man." -- JFK Inaugural, 1961
"Extremism in the defense of liberty is not a vice." -- Barry Goldwater, 1964 GOP Nomination acceptance speech (not George W. Bush 40 years later...)
