  • Is it possible to start at a later time in game + a few other inquiries

In Call To Power you could set the game to start at a certain age...

    Is this possible in Conquests?

Also..I have made Victory conditions like turn 1000 (which is MAX I believe) and made it that you had to have 100% of Population..

Is this the only way to make an extremely long game?

In Call To Power I simply edited the years per turn and thus allowing me the techs and an all out war with plenty of time to do so

I am using the editor..didnt know if I could be pointed in another direction??

    Thanks for the input all!

(As I am trying to learn this game even though I be a simple Old fart of a Country Boy!!)

    Peace

Load your Scenario File, hit ctrl-shift-m, here then in the Players Tab set the initial age for each, located left top.

1000 turns is max no matter the spread of years for each turn which of course must still set as such.

If you want techs easy and fast, place a lot 'goody huts' all about and give yourself a leg up with a pile of explorers or scouts with extended movement range via the editor.

However note, the goody huts only return techs in the first age.

By Loading Scenario File You mean go to editor and then open the scenario file THEN at that screen hit "CTRL-SHIFT-M"?

Also..will I be allowed the 1000 turns from then?

One last point..the "TECH RATE" should it be lower or higher for the game to give quicker tech?

      Thanks a bunch my friend!

Yes, open some saved scenario file or do a 'save as something' first and then hit ctrl-shift-m and then alt-enter. Sorry. Here find number and length of turns with other goodies. Also no matter these short-cuts, under the Scenario across the top of the editor pull it down and click custom player data, otherwise the player tab will not be available when you hit the short-cuts.

Tech rate lower for faster or quicker.

There are a lot of editor options most of which are under 'rules' and 'scenario' after activating the custom settings therein. And often more than one way to accomplish various goals such a fast tech.

You can tweak up what both 'resource' and the base terrains types return to cities and this will speed up tech research. You can tech by tech alter the actual costs down. And of course the global one is when you generate a new map. Set this one lower. Also populate the map with extra goodies and give your favorite civ the 'scientific' trait.

        Have fun!!

I am just getting to try this!

I love it..I am upping my setter count to start with

Has anyone had a success with any certain number on the high side (like 10-20-30 settlers to start with??)

          Just asking...

I will let you know how it goes!

          Peace

Yes however best not let settler's be city built then until later in the game by some tech advance and/or improvement. Otherwise instead of just instant civilizations coming into being a few turns into the game which take a longer time each, the game will city pollute by turn 20 and on then sometime to soon become unplayable. (unless a small defined map is used)

Also if a road network is pre-built on the map, then certainly by turn 5 all these cities could be in place and more useful to the AI so as to utilize resources for city management. Prebuilt road networks that are already linked to a few resources speeds things up and gives the AI's healthier Civ's at the get go.

Giving the AI civ a lot of settlers that end up unconnected cities each to each and resources is a real drain to that civ's ability to make war, wonders, improvements or expensive units.
