Has anyone taken a look into the TerrainBuildings.PCX file lately?

What is that displayed in the second column?

An unimplemented feature? Alternate graphics for anyone's use?

Soon enough YOU may be in the best position of any of us to answer that, Triple.

Remember this would not be the first instance of extraneous graphics in civ - in Civ2 there is a very neat looking selection of images for cities that does not seem to be used either.
    Consul.

Back to the ROOTS of addiction. My first missed poll!

I think I used one once.

It just got destroyed. Shows how useful those are

Well, the main thing that confused me was the fact that you never see colonies in the industrial and modern age, so I'd really never seen that art used before.

If you didn't allow cities to be built in desert/tundra, AND you used larger maps, you would see colonies.

Yeah, I was looking at the later age graphics, which, as I said, you never see.

It can be quite rare, but just as an aside, I just saw two colonies in the modern age in AU 503 (Pillage and Plunder). Warring AIs razed a few cities, opening up some free space and another AI promptly established colonies on resources (and later built a city within one cultural expansion of one of the resources). Still tough to make out the graphics since the AI does a decent job of garrisoning its colonies.

Eh, colonies are pretty damn overrated. I never use them, I probably should at times though.

I build fewer colonies than fortresses, which is saying something.
