The third guise is the Bran Fhíonn {bran-e-an}, sometimes known as the Brannan or the Bren-nan. This aspect means "The White Raven." Perhaps this name has been affiated with an albatross or a lone gull circling over a curragh {kur-ak} or other fishing boat.
As the curragh is clearly some irish fishing boat, maybe irish polytoners could help us.

a curragh is indeed irish,
its correct pronounciation is kurrah
it is an ancient form of a boat, not sure but i think it was cannoe like, made out of animal skins stretched arround a wooden frame. some saint supposedly sailed to america in one of these (patcon adds that this was saint brendan the navigator (see they had suiside galleys back in the 7th centry)).
and yes it is also a place in ireland, actually only about 5 miles from me. this the horseracing home of ireland which also happens to contain the main barracks for the irish army,
i thought this was settled. being irish i feel this is one of the very few topics (probably only one actually ) on this board where i am the undisputed athourity on the subject

You have to remember that the Yanks bastardise correct pronunciations. Listen to how they say herb, or route, or anti-. Ugh.
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.
