  • Patches - where have they all gone?

    Hi all

A newbie to C3C, but a long time C2 player.

I'm finding the posts on strategies really useful, espcially thos on food production.

    Two things:

1 Where are all the patch links!! I need to patch my version (tis only 1.00!), but every time I link on to the Atari or other patch downloads I get dumped. Nothing happens> Are there any live links around??

2 I find I'm getting bogged down about mid-way through Mediaeval level: concentrating on upping culture, I seem to fall behind in power, and more importantly technology. I see some still use the "money at 100%, scientists as specialist" approach: is that the best way to keep up wiht the Joneses (BTW, I know that the answer will depend on strategy, but I'm consistently getting bogged down at that point).

    Cheers,
    Ari

    1. Odd that Atari isn't working; try the Apolyton server. Click on Patch Center (to the right) in the Civ3 news page.

    2. Focusing on culture may not be the best strategy. If you have enough land for decent production cores, focus on building cities and workers to improve their land, and improving those cities with buildings once it's worth it. If you don't have enough land, or if you have an obnoxious neighbor, to war! Knights and Cav are both nice units.

Firaxis itself typically has working downloads for all of the patches.
