  • Armies' pillage.

I am delighted by this new feature of the game.

    My congratulations to the programmers.

    - EDIT -

I may say, that I was stupid by opening this thread to complaint about something that I did not see directly by myself.

I never wanted to be a troll and I hope you can excuse me.

    Thank you very much Aeson.

"Automatic" means you can pillage without using movement points. You don't have to pillage the tiles if you don't want to.

useful for disconnecting that pesky iron resource. I love it. Pillaging is really something I have never done in civ2. Why would I? It's easier to conquer. I do it a little in SMAC (mainly for boreholes and such). I still don't do it a whole lot in civ3, but sometimes I send a diversionary unit deep into enemy territory to draw enemy fire. And in the process I will disconnect strategic and luxery resources if I can before he meets his death.

Aeson, you know better than to blow up a troll with facts that quickly.

Aeson is right and I am wrong.

The new feature is that Armies can pillage without movement cost, they don't do anything without your permission.

I am sorry about opening this thread without no sense.

            Anyway, I feel relieved

Ahh, I retract my troll statement then. Mea culpa. I thought you were trying to tell Aeson he was wrong. People usually don't get too far doing that, I've noticed.

Actually, and please note I see and experience much of this, having AI Armies pillage just plain sucks!!

That said, I de-fanged said behavior or I shall I say de-ticked that option in my Mod.

Nothing worse than having perfectly good, pre-built scenario roads chopped up by errant enemy AI Armies. It only distracts from grand campaigns anyway, hurting both sides hampering good game play.

I'm sure I already know the answer, but I'll ask anyway...is it possible to make certain terrain improvements un-pillageable?

I make a lot of assumptions like this myself, sometimes even posting before testing. (usually regretting it )

"Automatic" was definitely the wrong way for this feature to be billed. "Ability to pillage without expending movement points" is more verbose, but less confusing.

Then how would you bomb someone back to the stone age?

                          Afaik you can't pillage rubble
(which, I suppose, is 'technically' an improvement, certainly less dull than the other squares )
It's all my territory really, they just squat on it...!
She didn't declare war on me, she's just playing 'hard to get'...
