  • Help - Settler production delayed by several turns

Sometimes, when a city (size 2) is building a settler, the settler does not emerge for many turns... is there a rule that disallows settler production for cities <3 ?
    Thx in advance.

Yes, you must have 3 ciizens to create a settler. The town will sit there until it grows to size 3 and then create the settler.

This is a big no no. You do not want to lose producton while you wait to grow the city. Build something else or improve a tile to generate more food to speed up the growth.

You may have a citizen working a forrest, instead of two food tile and need to move the citizen. The governor will mess this up, if you let him. This is why you can beat the AI at high levels, it will mismanage its empire.

Err, correction: 2 citizens. Otherwise, what vmxa1 said.

A clarifiacation: 2 citizens become the settler, the other pop is the only labourer in the city. Other wise the city could not grow, can it
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

However, if you'd like to abandon the city without killing everyone by selecting "abandon" or you just want to move the people, you can make sure your city stays at 2 and with some starving you'll get the option of abandoning the city when the settler finish.
