I disagree. If you are first you shouldn't get the maximum price for everyone. It makes sense that the price should fall as you trade it to more and more people, and it adds depth this way since there are decisions to be made.

Why should te prize fall?
Just tell everyone that they're the first to sell it to.
It's like I phone with the USA, sell the tech, phone Japan, sell it to them as well. Can be done in 30 minutes.
It gives (civ4 developers, are you reading) cool oppurtunities. Offer your tech, and say that it's 'new'.
Than, if later it appears that it's not so new, you won't be trusted that easily anymoreFormerly known as "CyberShy"

Hehe I like the tricking option, as long as there is a risk you can maintain strategic choice. I wont acknowledge any realism arguments, since as I said at present being able to sell every tech at max price to everyone would remove some of the depth the tech model has, which is far more important.

I'm with DrSpike. The way firaxis handle the tech prize, I would say, CivIII games is not 100% turn based, but "turn base plus "

I, have not seen this either. However, I have seen it if I make a trade in the inbetween turn. An example, I have a trade going for some luxury. (or, in the last case, two whole luxuries for two of mine!) After twenty turns I have grown enough that my trading partner feels I am getting too much of an advantage. In the AI turn, my trading partner wants to negotiate. I really want those two luxuries, so I sweeten the deal with a tech I can spare. At the start of my next turn, a whole bunch of people know my tech and my trading partner is suddenly richer. I have been nicely shafted. (However, I still have two extra luxuries filling my Marketplaces. I may be unhappy, but my people are downright giddy.)
As for the prices, when I sell something, yeah, that should change. As pointed out, none of the AI players can immediately make use of the tech, since it is still my turn, but they still know it. According to the rules, it is not whether they are using it that counts, but whether they know it. A tech 5 civs know is no longer a new and unique (read expensive) tech, even no one has had a chance to use it. The exception to this is if you are doing Continents or Archipelago and have managed to be the only contact between other cives. Then you can sell a new and seemingly unique (read expensive) tech twice, or even thrice if you're lucky. To me, that makes sense, creates interesting challenges and is fun. As a bonus, it is even sort of realistic. Sort of.If you aren't confused,
