  • After Patch 1.20 / City View

I guess this is the best place to post this question, please excuse me if I'm wrong. I lurk these forums some times, but I haven't still a great knoweldge of them.

Well, as you must know, patch 1.20 is out, and, as it was previsible, they haven't put the new wonders in the city view (and I'm afraid the Sistine won't show also - can anyone confirm?). As I really like to see my cities as they grow, I'd like to make the work they haven't done, and fit the new wonders somehow in the city view.

However, I have no idea on how to introduce a new building in the city view. Changing one is relatively easy, but I don't want to lose any building for the new wonders. Does anyone know how to do it? Is there a way to make new building images for the city view? or, in a last case. Is there some possibility to contact Firaxis to ask them?

    Thanks.

    I don't think it's possible.

They should bring back the city view for mod, in any case. I don't care if they haven't done any graphics for their conquest, just put a on/off button in the editor.
Excuse my orthography, my grammar, my syntax, my vocabulary and my punctuation, but hey, you probably saw worse
    If not.. Enjoy ! :)

The city view is hardcoded, and there isn't any mone for graphics to be made to the new buildings. Someone from Firaxis however stated that if a fan made graphics for the new buildings then it could be added with a patch.

Humm... I see. So there's little to none possibility of modifying it. And with Civ 4 in the horizon new patches are less possible.

I planed to use the civilopedia icons as a base for the buildings - (that's what puzzles me more. If the icons are there, the art is possibly done), but of course I needed to know some way to add a building to the city view.

It's not that I'm a great artist myself, but I like to make little modifications to make the game even more appealing to me (as changing the chatedral's color for each culture, or the indust. age marketplace). Mostly, what I do is 'remix' the graphics of other buildings to create a new one, wich I find nice, what doesn't mean that has a great quality.

Humm... Just a question? Is at least the Sistine's fixed with patch 1.20 (with basic Conquests, it doesn't appear). If at least that's done, I may try to put the new wonders in the place of late-game improvements and read these as little buildings with the extra sheet...

In any case, thanks for the info.

So theres no way to have City View in a MOD? My mod dosen't show the city view even with adding the City build number tags in Pediaicons.

Has anyone managed to edit or make a mod game and keep city views in, or is this only possible with PTW.

I started trying to put my mod as the default , replacing conquests.biq , but it dosen't yet work.. I think it automatically goes to the standard options, perhaps to stop cheating in MP etc.

It would be nice to have the palace view back too.. It could have an icon by the minimap view, I wouldn't think it would be hard to put back in.
