I DO play with the wait at end of turn setting, since the first three turns of my first game, in sep '02, I managed to (somehow) disband the settler.

Ouch! I only mentioned it because I have downloaded a few games lately that don't have it turned on, so it's worth a mention because it usually causes me at least one turn of unrest in downloaded games.

      Ouch, disbanded settler!

"Wait at end of turn" is very important to me! I get ambushed occasionally when I download someone else's saved game (like Mountain Sage's start position) and don't notice the omission for a few turns. Not bad at the start, but mid-game I hate it.

I'm sure this has been discussed to death elsewhere, but I have two major complaints about the F1 screen (well, there may be others I can't recall at the moment). First, there's no highlight to indicate a city in morale trouble (like the red used in the CTP2 city status screen). It can be very hard to distinguish the faces when they start to overlap. Second, there should be an indication of "turns to grow." And third ["Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!"] it should be possible to sort by "turns to finish production" to see what's imminent (as in GalCiv).

Typing with a 15-month-old on your lap? Hmm...should produce some interesting tactical detours in your game, too. If you were (or are) a pilot, this is what the FAA terms "flight with realistic distractions."

Never played CTP2, but I definitely would like to see the city name in Yellow or something.

I don't have a link, but since I started using a "smiley badge" graphics mod, this has become almost a non-issue. If you don't have one, go get one. (voice=Arnold) Do it! Doitnow!(end voice)

Oh, he's far more important than any Civ game and I don't play if it's "his time". He just wandered in while I was typing. I'd much rather play with him than my computer.

The frown/grin is hard to tell in some of the screens. I know some use the mod that places happy face icons. I don't use F1 to check on discontent. The sort they had in Civ2 made it easy to see how many were unhappy.

I've been looking around, and I can't find a link to the so called "smiley badge" graphics mod. Could someone please show me the way?

                Let me have it right:

His first three words: 'Mommy, papa, civ'.
How he sees his parents: 'Mommy is Theodora', 'Papa is Berserk'.
His actual level: 15-month old Warlord.
                His favorite animal: the Horse(man).
The city he lives in: The Capitol.
His future car: Chariot, 4-wheel drive, convertible, 2 HP.
                His future job: Great Leader.
His favorite quotation from a holy book 'Closer to thee, Sid'.
The Ultimate Threat: 'Eat your peas or I won't upgrade your units'.
His next fall question: 'Papa, will you also migrate south?'

                Did I miss something?

                  Smiley popheads
This is NOT the one I use, just the first one I found. The one I use just puts a smiley face on their chest, like a badge. I'll keep looking, though. Just an example.

Another one that also is not the one I use, but I might. It's got a color bar underneath each for ethnicity and little badges to designate what sort of specialist someone is. Pretty slick.

HERE is the one I'm using, I think.

Ultimate threat? Nah, he loves peas. And broccoli. And mint tea. But peanut butter is - bar none - the most amazing thing he has ever tasted. We don't really need threats. Yet. But I imagine it would be something like "Do X or I'll uninstall Civ XVII. Oh, and pull up your pants!"
