I've given my specialists some negative values for various things, to make them a bit more interesting. I tried to enter a -1 for production for my Entertainers, the thinking being that while my citizens are out enjoying themselves, less work is being done. But the game crashes whenever I try to lift a labourer from it's land, and when I try to access the domestic advisor screen if I have any Entertainers in place in any city.

From what I've seen, it doesn't make any difference, any negative value will crash the game. I discovered it while modding the Rise of Rome scenario. I couldn't even get into the Domestic Advisor screen because all of the Roman cities at the beginning have Entertainers. And the city I tried to take a Labourer off the land had a production of 3 at the time, so there was at least some leeway there. It wasn't like it was done to only one shield.
