  • My Ninja can't attack cities but the computer's Can... why?

    Hey Guys.

I'm playing conquests right now. The Japanese mod. And the computer's Ninjas are annoying as hell and one group even took a city from me. So I thought.. ok.. stealth war fare.. fine... so I made an army of ninjas and went in to take an enemy city without having to declare war....

Like the computer did to me.

However... I found that My ninja's couldn't attack the enemy city. At first I thought... ok.. the ememy city has a Yamabushi in it... Maybe you can't attack a city with a ninja if it has a yamabushi in it... But then a few turns later enemy ninjas destroyed a siege weapon of mine in a city that was protected by like 3 yamabushi.

Can anyone tell me why the computer is allowed to use the ninja in this fasion but the player is not? Is this a bug? Is it fixed in the patch...?

It's really annoying... cause now my Ninjas are pretty useless.

    Help!

Because the AI's need all the help they can get.

It is a hard-coded FLAW. Thankyou Firaxis!

But hey, I actually think so far as game-play goes this nefarious arrangement is useful.

Bah.. it makes ninjas totally useless and the other team's ninjas get a huge advantage getting to attack units in my cities but I can't. blah!!!!!

Well, let's see, this is how I deal with it.

I set up a line of watch towers along the border and garrison them.

In between and behind I post 'counter-spys' that can detect them.

Behind and sprinkled about I place offensive units garrisoned in fortresses.

In the cities I place triple defenders, walls and fast reacting offensive units and Armies.

        Now I feel safe.

Sure.. of course that's how you deal with them. But it is annoying. You wouldn't have to deal with them that way if your ninjas could do the same things the computer's ninjas could do... its silly.

          The AI basicly cheats.

          Bleh.

Yes, unfortunately that's a fact. But the AI needs to cheat to win, so don't get mad, get even.....as in, raze all their cities! I guarantee the AI will have forgotten all about your treachery the next game you play!

I've noticed this bug too. I wanted to put a ninja in my own scenario. So I carefully copied the unit statistics from the Japanese mod over to mine. It seems to work fine. But my ninja can't attack cities. I thought that I had done something wrong.

It does make it kind of interesting, but it certainly isn't fair. I think this gives the AI to much of an advantage when using those types of units.
