Reinstallation not working...

Uninstalled conquests, patches, wiped them from the registry too.

Now I am having trouble reinstalling - I try to reinstall and this is what I get. I have tried deleting the file it says but that doesn't work... any ideas?

Did you do anything to fix this or, as you said, it miraculously worked as you watched in disbelief?

If you know what corrected it, you could post it for any others that fall into the pit.
