Hate to bring up this old topic but I cannot find an answer. After reading that the shift-s shortcut would enable you to capture the princess I used my immortal to capture the city she was in and pressed/held shift-s while over the city. I then moved out of the city with the immortal but she was still in the city.
I guess I need a step by step process of how to actually capture her and take her back to my city. She was in the capital and that civ was destroyed once I took their capital, if that makes any difference.
