  • World Scenario Problem

I just tried to play the world scenario in Civ3 on the huge world map and began to play as the Aztecs. I got a little bored with that so I went back and decided to play as the Americans. Yet I kept starting on Central America, even with "Culturally linked starting positions" turned on. I tried Greeks, Persians and Babylonians and always started in the same spot. Why?

Hmmm.... on my version of the Earth(Huge) Map there is no Central America start position; there is one on the Earth(Standard) Map though. On both maps there is no fixed assignment of Player 1's start position, as far as I could see using the editor.

    Try this:
    1) Use the Editor to open the .bic/bix/biq file for the scenario you are trying to run,
    2) Right-click on the start position indicator (crossed circle), and
    3) Check Owner field to see if your map has assigned that starting spot to a particular Player#.
    4) If so, use the Change (Owner) button and select None to clear any assignment.

    Hope this helps. -bvc
