  • Land units ignoring sea-- explaination?

I was wondering why so many land units ignore the movement cost for sea. (And not coast or ocean). Is this to provide for ship-chaining or something?

I don't thinkit has any effect in the game, at least I've never spotted it. My guess it that it's as a result of some thing left in memory when the number of terraintypes got extended by 2, and converting a BIX to BIQ will give the ignore sea types the value off req support.

Then they removed that for all sea units, but left it on for land units since it didn't have any effect.

I was unaware land units could walk on any types of water tile.

They ae not, but they can have the setting to ignore movement cost of any sea tile, and it will do nothing. Like I said the reason for this is a technical thing with the upgrade from 12 to 14 terrains, and notinh to care about.
