Play the game without the disc?

I tried to find info on this but was unable to. I have bought Civ 3, PTW, and Conquests. I am currently playing Conquests and wish to play it on my new ultra-light laptop. Said laptop does not have a CD bay but uses an external CD/DVD drive.

My question is: Is there a way, without using a crack, that I can run and play the game without having the external drive attached?
