  • Changing the Agression Level in PBEM games

I have set up a Napoleonic scenario, that has 6 human and 2 AI players.

The AI are Napoleon - France and Gustav - Sweden.

Through the editor I adjusted the agression level of Napoleon to Sid.
(This is the whole reason of the game is to play against a SID level Napoleon.)

The issue is that when the saves opened by the next player, the game information comes up saying that the game is set at REGENT.

Where have I gone wrong here?

Im not sure on this Paddy but you said you adjusted the level of Napolean to sid! I think you need to set the level to sid for the game as a whole when you launch the game at the start.

I may not have the right answer but I hope it helps

ok, I will relaunch it when I get home and see how it goes.

Yet if my memory serves me correctly, as it is a Scenario, these settings are not adjustable when launching the Multiplayer game, they have "CUSTOM" written in them.

So I believe that there may be somewhere else within Editor that I need to adjust...

Load the MP scenario into the editor and go to the civilisations page. You should find a slider for aggression level for each civ.

Of course, the French may already be on maximum.

I found that, they are very high.

I will revisit this again tonight.

The following pic shows that this is a custom setting for the scenario.

Is this the section you meant?

I checked this, France is set at the highest level.

Also the following pic shows that the 'Agression Level' on the 'General Settings' is set on SID.

It is my understanding that this is the place that needed to be adjusted to edit the Scenario from Regent level to SID level.

Paddy I dont think its possible to set the game up at sid, like your screenie shows from the set up screen.

I was thinking of the single player set up screen when you start a single player Napolean scenario, you can choose your preferred difficulty setting.

Disregard my earlier post, I was unsure anyway

I'm not sure what you want is possible. The difficulty level in a scenario primarily, AFAIK, affects the number of citizens born content. The more unhappy the citizens are the harder it is for the AI as it tends to use entertainers rather than the slider to keep cities from revolting.

If France is set to maximum aggression anyway that can't be increased. When starting a SP game the aggression level can be adjusted further but I am not sure whether that can be accessed through the editor or MP set up screens.

                  Sorry that's not much help.

                    I appreciate your efforts.

I have been sitting here for two hours playing some turns, ripping the editor apart, and getting so frustrated with the 'Civ3ConquestsEdit' Help files...

                    I need more beer.

As you point out, maybe it is already set at the AI max.

Yet, having the file info state that the game is at Regent, when the players open up their file is frustrating.

Ok, here is a pic of where it states Regent.

This is the same game that the other two pics relate to

Difficulty level primarly affects AI bonuses. They should be huge at this level

Ok then, if no one has come across this, could someone point me in another direction for further assistance...
