1/16 chance of getting MGLs if attacking, 1/32 if defending. Regardless of whether you're militaristic or not.

It drops to 1/12 and 1/24 once you have the Heroic Epic.

Militaristic grants you a promotion bonus, but does not change the MGL generation rate.

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

I find that in PTW if I was a non-Mil civ, I would just not do well with leaders. It could be I would be less inclined to war, not sure.

In C3C it seems not tobe so hard. But the odds are as Arrian says and you can do much worse. I currently made 11 on off and 1 on def (lost it) and I just got to Middle ages. But I am fighting every turn, except two since I met my neighbor.
Some turns have seen as many as 35 units in my land. So I would say I am doing at least 6 combats a turn and often more like 15.

It is slowing down as I am close to eliminating them, but I still killed 11 units last turn.

No individual combat right now just cats pounding and armies squashing. No loses in a long time under this setup.

The best army is one consisting of Crusaders.
New American UU: Al Gore-Eliminates pollution and you get "The Internet" great wonder instantly.

New Hittite MGL: Howard Dean(listen to what their UU sounds like when it attacks)

No 1 move armies after you get horses. I guess I should say 2 moves, once they become armies, but with 2 move units they can cover a lot of ground and free pillage.

That is why I am not fond of Crusaders for armies.

AFAIK you are correct it is 3% for non scientific civs and IIRC it is 5 or 6% for scientific ones. IOW it is not common to get one.
I got at least 2 SGLs in one Epic game, as I was 11-13 techs ahead of all other civs, they just streched my lead even further.
